High Row DSH027
High Row DSH027
The Dynasty Fitness DSH027 High Row is a plate-loaded ISO-lateral back row machine where the handles start at or above shoulder height and pull downward and toward the body in a high-to-low diagonal arc, targeting the upper latissimus dorsi, teres major, and posterior deltoid through a pulling angle that standard seated rows and lat pulldowns do not cover with equivalent isolated loading. Independent left and right arm force racks on four 6206 bearings give each side its own bilateral plate load and arc without compensation, and ergonomically angled handles with forearm rotation guidance reduce wrist pressure through the high pull arc so the back muscles carry the full effort. A chest pad anchors the torso for both bilateral sets and strict single-arm high row training, and a three-position leg pad with elastic latch plus pneumatic infinite seat serve the full commercial user height range. Built from PT60×120×2.5mm steel with a 661 lb bilateral load capacity in matte black at 69.3" × 73.8" × 72.8", the DSH027 is built for commercial gyms, training studios, and serious home gym setups where the high-to-low ISO-lateral pull is a back programme priority.
- Plate-loaded ISO-lateral high row with handles starting at shoulder height and pulling downward and toward the body in a high-to-low diagonal arc, training the upper lat and posterior deltoid through a pull angle that neither seated horizontal rows nor vertical lat pulldowns replicate
- Independent bilateral arm force racks on four 6206 bearings train each side of the back against its own plate load at up to 661 lbs bilateral, making left-right upper back strength differences visible and correctable within every session
- Ergonomic angled handles guide the forearm through natural rotation during the high pull arc, reducing wrist pressure at the elevated starting position so the upper back muscles carry the full bilateral load rather than wrist and elbow discomfort limiting the set
- Chest pad and front auxiliary grips anchor the torso during both bilateral and unilateral high row sets, preventing the body from rotating under the asymmetric single-arm pull load and keeping the back in isolated training position

Exercises and muscles targeted
Exercises and muscles targeted
| Exercise | Muscles Targeted |
|---|---|
| High Row - Bilateral (wide grip) | Latissimus Dorsi - Upper Fibres (high-to-low diagonal pull emphasises upper lat, primary), Posterior Deltoid (primary - shoulder extension from elevated position), Teres Major, Rhomboids (secondary), Biceps Brachii (secondary) |
| High Row - Bilateral (narrow grip) | Latissimus Dorsi - Mid and Lower Fibres (elbows tracking closer increases lat thickness and mid-back, primary), Rhomboids (increased scapular retraction, secondary), Middle Trapezius (secondary), Biceps Brachii, Posterior Deltoid (secondary) |
| High Row - Unilateral Single Arm | Latissimus Dorsi (unilateral high-to-low pull, one side working to failure independently), Posterior Deltoid (primary), Teres Major, Serratus Anterior (increased single-arm engagement), Core and Obliques (anti-rotation stabiliser) |
| High Row - Isometric Hold (peak) | Latissimus Dorsi and Posterior Deltoid (sustained isometric at peak shoulder extension and elbow flexion), Teres Major (sustained), Rhomboids and Middle Trapezius (sustained scapular retraction), Biceps Brachii (sustained) |
| High Row - Slow Eccentric | Latissimus Dorsi (eccentric stretch through return to elevated starting position, loaded through the diagonal arc), Posterior Deltoid (eccentric), Biceps Brachii (eccentric), Teres Major (eccentric return arc) |
The high row bridges the movement territory between a vertical lat pulldown and a horizontal seated row by pulling from an above-shoulder starting position diagonally downward and toward the body. This diagonal arc places the posterior deltoid as a co-primary muscle alongside the lat, because the shoulder is extending from a flexed overhead starting position through the pull. This combination of shoulder extension and elbow flexion in one diagonal arc produces a different back and posterior shoulder stimulus from either a pulldown or a seated row performed at the same load, making the high row a genuinely complementary rather than redundant station in a complete back training area.
