Seated Calf Raise DSH015 is a plate-loaded calf machine that trains the soleus as the primary muscle through a seated plantar flexion movement with the knees bent, a body position that shortens and deactivates the gastrocnemius and isolates the soleus in a way that no standing calf raise can achieve. A 5-position adjustable knee pad assembly accommodates different lower leg lengths, a trapezoid-shaped seat prevents inner thigh compression during heavy loaded sets, and an anti-slip curved footplate accommodates foot position changes through the full plantar flexion arc. Built from PT60×120×2.5mm steel with a 331 lb single weight horn and a quick-pull safety stopper for controlled unracking, the DSH015 is the companion machine to a standing calf raise station and the only way to develop the soleus with dedicated plate-loaded progressive resistance. The soleus is the deeper of the two primary calf muscles. It sits beneath the gastrocnemius, is composed predominantly of slow-twitch muscle fibres, and crosses only the ankle joint rather than both the knee and ankle. Because it does not cross the knee, it remains fully active when the knee is bent — which is the seated position. The gastrocnemius, by contrast, is shortened and contributes minimally in the seated position. This is why seated and standing calf raises are not interchangeable and a complete calf programme requires both: the seated DSH015 for soleus development and a standing calf machine for gastrocnemius work.
